EFF at ASES 2017: From the Predictable to the Unpredictable – Education and the 4th Industrial Revolution

Tuesday 19th September 2017, 12.50 – 14.00 India Standard Time

The Asian Summit on Education & Skills, now in its 4th edition & partner event to EWF, London is running from September 17th to September 19th 2017 in Mumbai, India.

A theme for this year’s event is the implications for education and skills of the so called “4th Industrial Revolution” which is rapidly gaining ground as it reflects the growing nature of development where multi-disciplinary teams work together to solve problems, create new ideas and products and accelerate developments in al areas of human endeavour. The challenge for education is that schools are still largely organised around subject disciplines and this has to change so that citizens are better able to  participate in the 4th industrial revolution perhaps being better grounded in more than one discipline but having community skills to link people and things that might never have been linked before.

The EFF debate at ASES will frame this situation in terms of education’s ability to change from a totally predictable service to the need today and in the future to deal with unpredictability.

A panel chaired by Jim Wynn and Gavin Dykes will debate these issues and the panel will by joined by other debaters via video conference. Speakers include Dr Mmantsetsa Marope  CEO UNESCO IBE, Dr. S. S. Mantha, Former Chairman, AICTE and Mr. Dilip H.M. Chenoy, Chairman Board of Management, SLIET & Former MD & CEO, NSDC.
