Jon Harman is a lecturer in Digital Competence in Learning, specialising in Learning Design, and part of the research group in Media Literacy and Learning Design, at Volda University College in Norway. Jon previously was Director of Learning Design & Media at the University of Law in the UK, he pioneered a digital learning media studio flipping the classroom before the term had been coined. He has consulted on digital publishing and learning strategies for Pearson Innovation and Law Without Walls to name a few. Prior to focussing on learning and education Jon worked in film and television production. He has produced films and production managed large broadcasts for Disney, BBC, Channel Four and ITV. He continues to develop media productions and teaches advanced media production to undergraduates at Volda.
Jon believes that learning should be engaging, playful, motivating and enriching. He left the UK to protect his own children from the ever encroaching creep of academisation in his home town of Norwich and continues to campaign against private and true ownership of education.
